WW1 Exhibition

As part of the centenary commemorations of the start of the First World War, a series of 16 A0 informative display panels have been designed for client Saville Creative Communications. These formed the main focus of a 10 day exhibition at St Margaret's Hall in Horsforth, Leeds, that not only honoured and remembered those from the town who fought and died during the war, but also told of the role that Horsforth people played in sheltering Belgian refugees, how the town coped with food rationing, raised funds for the troops, made armaments in the local shell factory and how it honoured the dead after the war was over. Accompanying the exhibition was a set of workbooks (also designed by Aldred Design), aimed at local schoolchildren who attended the exhibition as part of their studies during the week leading up to Remembrance Sunday.

Two smaller information panels were also designed for permanent display adjacent to 'The Boulder Stone' on Stanhope Drive – an existing memorial to the 249 men and one woman from Horsforth who died.

The commemoration events and materials, largely funded by a grant from the Heritage Lottery, also enabled a book and materials for a history trail to be produced.

Trend trekking

This 16-page A4 document was designed, printed and delivered for client Insider Trends to a very tight lead timescale. The Trend Trek involved visits to over 25 retail venues in central London to discover and experience state-of-the-art merchandising technology, cutting edge retail concepts. packaging and apps. Only thirty copies of the document were required which necessitated the use of digital printing - however, the document also needed to retain a 'top end', luxury feel for its users.

WWI Commemorations

Aldred Design has recently completed the design for an 84-page, perfect bound book entitled Horsforth: The Great War. Produced in collaboration with client Saville Communications, the book is just one of a number of items being produced to commemorate the involvement of men and women from the town of Horsforth during the First World War. A local history trail with trail map, together with a one-week exhibition, is also being organised to coincide with the national commemoration events happening later in the year. To co-ordinate the activities, a logo has also been produced by Aldred Design that takes its inspiration from original enamelled artwork on the Horsforth Cenotaph.

Arnavon - Helping People Grow

A new identity has recently been completed for Arnavon, an integrated urban agriculture project based in Tucson, Arizona. The logo design (the name is a translation for 'rabbit' in Hebrew) communicates elements of the agriculture programme itself by incorporating illustrations of a rabbit, hen, fish, bees, fruits and flowers within the letter forms. Initially, the logo has been used on banners to advertise the organisation at local produce fairs and farmer's markets but will eventually be included on packaging labels and will form the visual base for a new website.
